We received an X-ray diffractometer

The Department of Polymer Engineering has received a Bruker D6 Phaser compact X-ray diffractometer. In addition to material identification, the equipment is suitable for analyzing the crystal structure of crystalline or semi-crystalline materials, for example, the dimensions of the unit cells, the crystalline fraction, the size and orientation of the crystals or even the internal stresses remaining in the material after production. It can be used to examine the order and the degree of packing of atoms and molecules in amorphous materials. With the various rotatable sample holders, powder, foil, and block samples can be examined in reflection and transmission arrangements in a sample chamber with a controllable temperature up to a maximum temperature of 500 °C.
