We are preparing five exciting programs for the Researchers’ Night

This year, the Department of Polymer Engineering is preparing five exciting programs for the Researchers’ Night. In our interactive workshop, visitors can take control of the journey of waste and gain insight into the lesser-known aspects of waste management and recycling. In another program, we demonstrate the mechanical recycling of plastics: by bringing ten bottle caps, participants can see how selective waste is transformed into new products and learn about the compostability of biopolymers. Entering the world of 3D printing, we showcase special “foaming” filaments and the testing methods that support the development of sustainable materials. We also introduce visitors to composite reinforcement materials: through electron microscopy, we reveal the advantages of polymer composites compared to metals. Finally, our laboratory tour highlights what links Formula 1 cars, airplanes, and wind turbines, presenting spectacular experiments to demonstrate the unique properties of these advanced materials.
